Stopped in Helvetia — a tiny Swiss settlement tucked into the mountains of Randolph County, West Virginia. Population: maybe 60, depending on who you ask.
The Hütte restaurant was closed, but the general store had fresh coffee and homemade bread. Sat on the porch watching fog roll through the valley while a barn cat investigated my riding boots.
Some places exist outside of time. Helvetia is one of them.
